Earlier this summer in Lyon, France for Axway Summit EMEA, David Geiger, Head of API Management at Bosch Digital shares some thoughts inspired by these discussions on how artificial intelligence could be used to help streamline API productization and make the developer experience easier. "So, it's one thing to have your API specification that says, "Here's an endpoint, there's an endpoint," along with some documentation around it, but that is very cumbersome. We’ve also noticed this ourselves when trying to put something together based on some of the product APIs. It takes a lot of time to think about what my requirements are, turn those into a workflow, and then figure out how to implement that using the available endpoints. I think there is quite a lot of potential to automate this orchestration and to incorporate some intelligence. For example, you could describe your use case in a natural language way, and then have the AI put it together, sort it out, and maybe even provide a starting point for implementation. I think that could be really useful for consumers. Yes, getting to that productization... Yes, to productization and also, in general, the entire process or the workflows of API portals and API marketplaces are still very much based on manual workflows. You go in there, go through the catalog, try to find stuff, and go through the documentation. How much easier would it be to simply tell the marketplace what you need or have it determine what you need, and then just provide the right result?
